School's in Session!

I had my first day of school today! Well, just one class actually, Psychology. I was so nervous walking in there! My heart was pounding and I got the dreaded sweaty upper lip. LOL! My teacher seems really nice. She's upbeat and I think she'll be great. My husband had a Psych. teacher that had this low, monotone voice that was the worst! I'm so glad that's not the case with me. Let's hope my English teacher tomorrow is great too.

I've been sewing a little. I'd like to try and get a few things made for myself. I need to figure out some sort of schedule so I can fit sewing in with my classwork and Mommy duties. If anyone has any hints let me know! In school as a kid, I was the one who always got in trouble for "not using time wisely"! Unfortunately, I'm still that way. Ha!

My camera is busted so I have no pictures to share. I'm searching for my daughter's but have had no luck!

Well, I'm off to read the handouts I got this morning!

Have a great week!

Hi Heather - I have found that the best way for me to stay more or less sane is to let go of the idea of having a "solid block" of sewing time. Sewing for 10-30 minutes a day works out much better than thinking I'll get a chance to sew for hours on the weekend - it never happens. I'm neither an early-morning nor a late-night person, so I try to do mine in the morning before starting work or in the early evening. It also helps if other people know this is essential to my remaining a nice person!

I agree with Tina. Little bits of stuff is the way to go, at least for me. If I was an organized person (bahahha) I'd have everything laid out at the beginning so I could just walk up and do something for 15-20 minutes. In fact, sometimes through sheer accident, this is what happens, which I always find pleasant. I just can't do it consistently.

Very exciting about school starting, though! Yay! Ooo, Google apparently agrees... Word Verification? "Woott"

Good luck with it all Heather...I think you're great going back to school...I'm afraid I can't help much...I haven't any tips I'm afraid...sewing is very sporadic around here right now. I'm struggling to find time with summer holidays still going strong here. Kids go back to school in 2 weeks.

Heather: Sounds like you had a great start!

I am more of a "watch me if you want, otherwise occupy yourself" sewing mum. Of course, my only kid is 10 - I know your son is younger. Still, it might be the best plan :-)

Right on for education, but that's an early start to the school year!

No family to manage in these parts, so I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I think having a sewing/project notebook is really useful to keeping some semblance of organization. Especially when you have to stop and start frequently and there may be a bit of time between sessions. Make notes about what you were doing, what's next, ideas, troubles with the project, etc. That way you don't have to clutter up your brain trying to remember it all and you can use that space to further your studies.

Thank you all so much! I'm sorry to be getting back with you so late! Goodness, I need to get on the ball! Love all your ideas. I really need to incorporate sewing little bits at a time and some kind of organization system. I think I would get so much more done. I need clotes so badly...can't go to school nekkid!
