Mama's got a brand new bag

I finished this up last night. I needed a bag to carry as a purse/diaperbag and I think this will fit the bill. I made up some pockets with elastic to hold sippy cups and other miscellany.

I think it turned out pretty good and since I used upholstery fabric and some super-stiff interfacing it is very sturdy.

The original handles were way too long so I did have to undo the lining, go back through and tear out part of the seam holding the straps. But it went smoothly and I didn't screw it up considering I was tired and it was 11PM! I had to cut off like 10 inches from both straps!
Geesh...I don't know what I was thinking when I made them suckers!

Oh well, I like it very much and will be transferring all my crap out of my purse and into this bad boy shortly!

Miss Muffett

I found this very groovy imagine of Little Miss Muffett and her spider friend. Looks like she doesn't want to share her curds and whey!

10 lbs down...

Whoo hoo! Oh yes I have lost 10 whole pounds! And I'm not going to mention how many more I have to go 'cause that will completely depress me. Well, not really... If you have ever been in the situation where you have lost weight and your tighty-tight-tight clothes that used to be loose are starting to ease up, you can vouch for that amazing feeling of accomplishment! Part of that, I know, is my breasts are starting to get smaller now that Conner is weaned (sniff sniff) I do miss nursing though :-( But, man, do they get biggie-big when I'm nursing. They did the same with Meghan. But this time I got up to a J cup. Oh yes, I just said "J CUP"!!! Yeah, they could compete with Pamela Anderson's. Of course I'm not rail thin and look as if I will topple over from the shear weight of them. Well, enough boob talk. I was just so excited to see the scale was going down. I even made sure there were no toys around it to throw it off. One time there was one of Conner's Mega Bloks under the edge of the scale and it said I weighed 30 lbs less. I wish! I'm looking forward to the weather warming up, too. We enjoy family walks through the neighborhoods. It's too frickin' cold right now.

Well, I'm glad it's almost the weekend. I do have to work today. Meghan's school carnival is tomorrow night. I have to work for a half hour. Whoopie! Oh, it's actually kinda fun. The kids really have a blast and it's inside a building so you can just let them free to run and cavort.

I must go get ready to go to work. Have a good day!

DSQ slippers!

Well, I haven't posted what I have been making in awhile. These slippers come from Denyse Schmidts Quilts book I have. I think I want to make everthing in that book! I don't think our copier can quite enlarge the patterns to what they need to be so they ended up a bit short. I didn't have any vinyl either and used some heavy upolstery fabric and they are too floppy. But I think they are cute. I made the oven mitt too and it's cute and was so easy! I know what I'm makin' for Christmas gifts fer sure, man!

Well, I read the other day where one of my favorite craftblogs is shuttin' 'er down. Little Birds will soon be no more (boo hoo sniff). I always love her beautiful pictures and the colors she uses for...well, everything... are, like, always so perfect! What great style and not to mention the beautiful things she makes. I will certainly be heading over to etsy.com for some Little Bird action! Her sister Lisa has promised updates so we'll hold her to it...hehehe!

One thing I have noticed is so much Japanese craft. I love it! I can't get enough of it! It's so darn CUTE! I know I will not be able to find any of these books locally but I. must. have. I will just have to order. Another book that I'm thinkin' I must have was on Posie's blog. I love fabric, too. Any kind, every kind, especially vintage and repros. Oooh yesss. I really can't get enough. When I told the quilt shop lady that I liked 30's repros she looked sideways at me and said "REALLY, you do?!" Uh... yeah, duh! (no, I didn't say that to her!)

Well, time so sign off and go do my motherly duties. Oh yes, they have to do with diapers. It's gotta be bad when you can smell your child from across the room. Posted by Picasa

Mr. Hat

This little guy just loves hats! He leaves them all over the house...ahem...for me to pick up. But if he finds one on it goes. Bowls and boxes serve just as well. It's so sweet.

Well, in other news, I think my husband has found a nice lady to hire down at the office. Yeaaaa! I'm looking forward to not working there anymore. it just really sucks. Well, not as bad as it used to but but we just don't always get along if you know what I mean... I'm also kinda thinking of starting an etsy.com shop. I've got tons of fabric and would love to make bags and maybe little quilts and stuffeds, etc. I'm making a Buddy Guy doll for Conner at the moment I need to finish his eyes and make a guitar for him to hold then he should be done. Tha has been a fun process. Making the pattern and designing the clothes and stuff. Not that it was terribly detailed but fun just the same. I could definately make a habit out of making stuff all day. Well, I really need to get busy on the housework (yech) All I have done so far is make the bed and... well, that's it! Does changing diapers count? Posted by Picasa

Good Morning!

Well, not much has been going on aroud here. I did get some new quilting books! One is Denyse Schmidt Quilts and the other is Modern Quilt Workshop by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr. I got another book on color theory for quilts by the latter as weel but can't remeber the name. I tell ya that Denyse Schmidt has come cute projects! I'm already workin' on the slippers...so cute. I Love the smaller projects that I can finish in a day or so. I'd like to make one of the quilts for our bed. The Hop Skip and Jump looks cool and fairly simple. shouldn't take me too long...

Well, I just realized that I am going to be 30 in a few short weeks. I actually feel better about it than I did when I turned 29. Like a new start. I want to not waste so much time and try to ba a better mom and work on my art and and and and and...

DH is going to hire someone full time for the office so I will get to stay home with the kids and work on my stuff. Yeahhh! I'd like to make stuff and sell it maybe on etsy to start. I want to go to the college to take some computer courses cause I'd love to set up my own website.

Well, I must go for now... I leave you with this cutie pic of Mr. C

The MOST unbelievable, shitty week EVER!

I cannot believe what has actually happened yet! My dear Grandad passed away this last Sunday and 4 days later my father-in-law passed away. I feel so numb. I'm at the point where I can't feel anything and I'm just walking around like a zombie. The day we buried my Grandad was the day Dad died. God it is just too much. Maybe God's trying to tell me something... Wake up and smell the coffee Heather! I don't know. All I do know is I feel like laying down and not getting up for a long time. I guess one of the many great things about being a mom is you are forced to get up and get on with it. My children would never let me slouch, that's for sure.

Well, we got a nice snow the other night. This was on Sunday. We had planned to cook out with my in-laws and it snowed. we cooked out anyway. We are die-hards. I just think this is such a cute picture of my hubby! Posted by Picasa

Oh. My. God! I cannot believe that li'l Mr. C is a year old! It just makes me wanna cry! This year has gone too fast. We had a small celebration at Granny and Papa's house. The big guy even had his own cake! I think he just looks so sublimely happy in this picture...HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SWEET LITTLE MAN! I love you so much! Words just cannot express...

Ahh the innocence of children!

Well, the other day I was waiting for my daughter to get out of school and the intermediate school was let out. They get out earlier than the elementary school. Anyhoo, a little boy came walking in the direction of my car. He was just so sweet, walking along with his arms out like an airplane or bird, without a care in the world. He had a fanciful look on his face and seemed to singing some secret song to himself. That just got me to thinking how great it can be to be a kid. Not caring that a hundred cars are zipping by and having your arms out and flapping them up and down wildly. If I was to do that I would surely be turned over to the nutty farm. Sometimes, I miss being a kid but then I remember how much it sucked, too. I would not want to do it over again! I was always the fat kid and was teased relentlessly. Well, that is certainly a depressing memory. I look at my kids and thank goodness they still have innocence in them. At my daughter's age, I knew too much about too much and I'm glad she still has no clue about a lot of things. It's like when you find out about Santa and the Tooth Fairy, you just can't get that thrill back again. That hot tingle in the pit of your stomach that sends silvery shards all through your nervous system when you see the shiny new toys or a crisp dollar bill under your pillow. Hmmmm. It's the end of innocence. Growing up can really suck, too.

Addicted

Hello, my name is heather m and I am addicted to Craftster.

I have been going to this forum for just a few days now and I can't stop myself! It has so much amazing info you just wouldn't believe it. I have gotten tons of inspiration from it! I think my head might pop with all the projects I have in mind. I think I'd like to do some handmade things for Christmas gifts this year(inspiration from the site). Now I just need to sit down and organize my thoughts, which is not an easy feat for me. I'm very scatterbrained, just ask my husband.

Well, I really need to get off the computer and do some housework, yuck!

Catch ya on the flipside!

Lameoid

Well, I win the Lameoid Award of the Year. I am not a good journalist. I don't think I will ever be good at it. I remember starting a journal when me first child was born. I was gonna write down all of her accomplishments and all the cute stuff she did...phthbbb! I got lke to her 1s week and that was it! Can you believe that. I can. Ask my husband. He'll say "oh yeah" ! I started in on the same journal after Mr. C was born and have been much more faithfull. It's actually up to date. Anyway, as much as I look at this here computer you'd think I be here everyday! But, ooohhh no! Aw well.

Anyhoo... C's little sweater has been finished for awhile. I mst say it is uber cute! He looks so handsome in it. It has a few mistakes and I know I didn't seam it up correctly but who gives a fuck! Really! The FMM wants a teddy that is all dressd up. Maybe for Christmas.

I have become addicted to the crack that is
Craftster. I can get on there and go through all the forums and then it has been like 2 hours! It sucks you in and there is no way out...It's like a big black hole of craft. But it's sooo gooood. I was thinking about screen printing and didn't know much and you type it in and *POOF!* all the info you need. And I don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon. I didn't realize how much goes into it. Especially the cost... Whew! It's still cool though and maybe someday.

Sweater progress!!

I can't believe it...I actually finished the back and left front of Mr. C's sweater! I am starting on the right front now. Should be done this weekend. My Grandma would be so proud. I don't know if she ever knits clothing. Washcloths and crocheted blankies yes, but I think maybe she made me and my sister some sweater vests when we were kids. Oh yeah you know the ones. If you were alive in the 80's you remember the Sweater Vest! V-neck and maybe some stripes...

Oh the horror. At least when the 80's styles came back it was more the Madonna style than Grandma's knitted vest style. Oh yeah I KNOW you remember!

On another note: I am just wondering why I am so stupid that I can't get My blog to look as cool as other peoples. I mean, I tried to list the sites I like to check out on a regular basis and so I go to the Blogger Knowledge page and follow the steps and it never works! I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong! I need to take a friggin' computer course just to figure this shit out! I need to learn how to link to other sites, too. I'm just lost. Also I know no one else but me is reading this so I won't have any fellow friendly blogger say "Hey Heather here's how it goes". Oh well, I'm a retard.

Sweater pics as promised

Well, here is a picture of the sweater I'm working on for Mr. C such as it is. It was a free pattern from Lion Brand website. It's a cardi that you knit back to front in one piece to the neck and then continue on with LS and come back and finish RS. It's a little sloppy, yes. But hey this is my first attempt dammit. The Fabulous Miss M will want something next. Lion has a new bolero pattern that I think would be cute and should be long enough on her to be more of a cardi. I have to get started on Halloween first.
